It is more evident now than ever before that the world needs love - and lots of it. We need to heal, we need to regenerate and we need to embrace new ways of living; the old ways simply don’t work anymore, that much we know. Through our grounding, loving retreats on African soil, The Big Love nurtures a sense of health, balance and connectedness that instils a deep sense of healing love - a love for each other, for ourselves, for nature and for our glorious planet.

Situated in Africa, the birthplace of humanity, The Big Love Retreats feel very much at home under expansive African skies. With its rich cultural heritage, gorgeous landscapes, warm, hospitable people and long history of traditional healing practices, to experience Africa is to experience profound love and transformation at soul level. I fell in love with the African continent on my first trip to Kenya when I was eighteen years old and I fell in love with yoga and wellness in my thirties. The Big Love Africa is the conscious creation of my passion for Africa combined with my passion for wellness, justice and love. Yoga and meditation taught me about self-love, peace and healing. Africa taught me about love, humility, dignity, community and joy and continues to move my heart and mind like no other place I have ever been to in my life.

Having lived and worked in Africa as well as having close family connections in Cameroon and Gambia, I feel a deep love and a strong personal connection to the continent and the people. Africa is a place I have a genuine reverence for and nothing has made me feel more alive than the hours I have spent creating The Big Love Africa. As a white, British woman I am acutely aware of my privilege and I am confident that with empathy, collaboration and a deep commitment to justice, The Big Love will be an unequivocal force for good in the African continent.

Our bold commitment to regenerative tourism benefits all and we remain steadfast in our belief that tourism in Africa must be uplifting, loving, transformative and prosperous for everyone, the planet included.

We challenge the narrative that stereotypes Africa only as a place of poverty and helplessness and we celebrate the fifty-four incredible and diverse nations that make up the continent. We recognise Africa as a place of profound healing and spirituality, rather than merely a savannah full of wildlife and upmarket safari lodges and we are excited by the diversity, opportunity, beauty and brilliance of the continent and its people and we want to thrive alongside it.

The Big Love exists energetically as a place for deep healing, personal transformation and spiritual growth. Fuelled by love and a strong sense of purpose and integrity, we want to make a genuinely positive impact on the world - through a Big Love for ourselves, Mother Earth and all living beings.
